A large part of the health visitors time is spent monitoring the growth, development and social and physical health of children under 5 years, and their families. They undertake Well Baby Clinics, Health Promotion and Child Protection work and vaccinations. They are especially involved with breast feeding mothers, isolated and unsupported mothers and mothers with postnatal depression.
